Worship Arts Ministry
At Christ Lutheran Church and School the Worship Arts Ministry seeks to provide multiple avenues for people to use their creativity and exercise their faith. First and foremost, the worship arts ministry serves to enhance the daily worship of the church and its members through the use of creative worship arts, such as music, dance, drama, and the visual arts. While the most common expression of this is in the musical discipline, we are always looking for more opportunities for our member and guests to use their God-given abilities and creative gifts.
Worship Choir fulfills the need of Christ Lutheran to accomodate a wide range of musical skill levels, ranging from 'complete foreigners' to 'advanced maestro' Its primary role is to provide musical excitement and variety to the 8:00 a.m. traditional service, but will also sing at other services. We strive to develop not just the musical accuracy of singers, but the whole musical art of lyrical, rhythmic, and dynamic richness. No outside rehearsal time is expected, Worship Choir is a great place to launch into other areas of Worship Arts Ministries. 8:00 Special Music Skilled musicians are used occasionally for special music and hymn accompaniment at our 8:00am service as well as opportunities with our Worship Choir. Brass, Winds, Strings, and Percussion are desired. Musicians will be expected to coordinate their own accompanist for the immediate future.
Praise Band primarily serves to lead worship on Sunday mornings at the 10:30 a.m. service. We use a variety of musical styles ranging from modern and traditional hymn settings to modern worship rock. Worship Songs from groups such as Matt redman, Chris Tomlin, Hillsong, Jesus Culture, and contemporary Christian radio are used to lead our congregation in Worship that not only engages the mind and the mouth, but the heart and soul, and seeks to convey the rich depth of Lutheran doctrine. Vocals and rhythm instruments (keys, guitars, bass, drums and percussion) are the primary instruments, but skilled treble instruments can also find their way into regular use. Musicians will not only find themselves challenged musically, but spiritually through leadership studies and opportunities. Outside preparation is strongly expected. Rehearsals are held on Thursday evenings beginning at 6 p.m. Please contact the Worship Director for auditions, or attend a monthly jam session intermittently held on the first Saturday of the month at 2 p.m.
